In Redmond want to bet on the Flash format for displaying multimedia content on its new operating system for mobile devices, something that lacks natively its closest competitor, the iPhone.
Microsoft and Adobe are working together to add support for Flash in the new operating system Windows Phone 7 Series. In particular would be based on the 10.1 version of this format. This has been pointed out a senior Adobe’s own MikeChambers, in his personal blog.

This news comes just weeks after the Flash developer indicated that the new operating system for mobile devices from Microsoft do not come with support for Flash, at least in early versions. Then it would add a plug-in for Internet Explorer Mobile, so that users can count on full support for Flash in its terminals.

Meanwhile, Steve Ballmer, CEO ofMicrosoft, said during the presentation of the operating system during the MWC 2010 that “we have no objection to support Flash in this new generation,” in clear reference to its most direct rival, Apple.

Also through its CEO, SteveJobs, the Apple company has stressed that the new Tablet PC in the company, iPad, will not come withFlash. The reluctance of Jobs to Adobe Flash is long, since for the CEO of Apple, Adobe Flash contains many errors and the future of Internet and multimedia content HTML5 pass.

For its part, Adobe could not stand idle before such statements: “No support for Flash, iPad users can not access a large number of content available on the Web, as 70% of games or 75 % of the videos “.

Without doubt, Adobe Flash has become an element that will have much weight in the emerging Tablet PC segment, where it is expected a great battle between manufacturers of the likes of Apple (with itsiPad), Microsoft (Courier) and HP (Slate), and in the mobile section.

The Windows Live service connectivity problems presented yesterday as a result of difficulties in one of its authentication servers.

Diario Ti: Microsoft writes on his blog that one of the authentication servers in Windows Live session would have experienced difficulties resulting in a surcharge that must be absorbed by the remaining servers. This situation led to many users experience difficulties in access to Microsoft Services for about an hour.

However, this does not seem to be the whole problem. According to Business Week, some users have accidentally accessed other users’ accounts. One of them told the paper that “suddenly opened the account a user totally unfamiliar to me. I tried again with the same result. I tried it several times and each time opened a separate account.

According to Microsoft, it is uncertain whether the two events are related.

“We are investigating reports that a limited sense of Windows Live users have had access to accounts of other users trying to access them by mobile readers,” said Microsoft in a statement reprinted by publications Cnet and Bloomberg, among others.

Microsoft emphasizes that assigns critical importance to the privacy of its users, and therefore has initiated an investigation to clarify the issue.

Sources: Business Week and CNet Silicon Republic.

FastSearch is only for Windows. Microsoft will leave Unix and Linux

Microsoft is going to stop offering Linux or Unix versions of its search solution for the corporate world, after a few updatesFastSearch provided by the first half of questa’nno. Microsoft, in 2008 when it acquired Fast Search &Transfer, saying he wants to update the stand alone version for Linux in the enterprise search platform developed by the company: this is the case for a couple of years to follow. But the products that will be launched this year will be the last to have within them a core of research compatible with Unix and Linux.

The focus of research for specialized product companies will be solely on Windows, but this will require a number of important and perhaps complex change for companies that have already taken over time FastSearch. But Microsoft says that will still be interoperable with non-Windows systems in both front end and the back end. The search will operate and index content stored on Windows, Unix and Linux.

A new version, 5.3, ESP will also bring to fruition some options that also include hosted solutions or cloud based services that allow the use of a mixed solution.
